What is Spencer Country Chat?

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is the internet's equivalent of CB Radio. Thanks to our friends at ibrutes.com and slash.net, Spencer Country now has access to a dedicated IRC server where we can get together during races and chat with each other in real-time.

How do I use Chat?

Very simple! Enter your nickname into the box on the right of this screen and click on the ENTER button. Your computer will then download a Javascript applet for the Chat program. Don't worry - it's completely safe and will only stay on your computer while you are chatting. When you disconnect from the service, the applet is deleted.

You will see a message asking you to allow the applet to load. Please say YES to the message, otherwise you will not be able to enter the chat room.

When the applet loads, you'll see a screen like this -

The text appears on the black window on the left, there's a list of all the users on the right and you can type your message into the white box on the bottom. There's even the opportunity to write in bold letters or in differenct colours by clicking on the buttons.

If you wish to have a private conversation with another user, just double click on their name and a new window will appear. Only you and the other user can read the contents of the screen.

When you've finished using the service, click on the Disconnect button to close the applet.

Please respect your fellow users. Treat others in the chat room as you wish them to treat you. Understand that the written word can sometimes not convey the full meaning or intention of the writer and misinterpretations can happen.

If your sole purpose in entering the chat room is to antagonise or annoy the users, please don't bother.

Any actions that promotes illegal activity are EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. Any user that does not abide by these rules will be removed and banned.

2. Personal Information

Users should be aware that, when they disclose personal information - such as their real name, member name, e-mail address, etc. - in a channel, the information may be collected and used by others to send that person unsolicited email from other parties.

3. Channel Rules

By entering the chat room or using its services, you acknowledge the possibility that logs of your messages may be created by other users without your permission and/or knowledge.

4. Indemnification

You further acknowledge that neither spencercountry.com, ibrutes.com or slash.net can be held liable for any loss, explicit or implied, caused by the actions or inactions of any user of the services of the site.
